Indoor Pool - Landscaping [PDF]

The new swimming pool was designed to be one wall of the vegetable garden, its soft warm red brick providing a backdrop to the planting. Old and twisted espaliered apple trees are set in contrast to a strip 'parterres' of lavenders and grasses which reflects and is viewed through the long slot window of the pool building. A new garden wall and sunken glass house, both of reclaimed brick and lime mortar, complete the enclosure of the walled garden. The older green houses and planting create a delightful foil to the contemporary swimming pool and are captured and framed fom inside by the carefully placed windows.
