This award winning project is a contemporary extension to a late Victorian country house, and includes a 15m indoor pool, gym and playroom. The volume is broken up to create a building which is both playful and picturesque.

House on Bassett Road [PDF1] [PDF2]
This large double-fronted Victorian house was reinstated back to a single family dwelling, from 4 flats. The challenge was to create an 'open plan' house with dramatic spaces which respected the original house and its context. The staircase was repositioned so all living spaces could face south and connect with the garden. The lower ground floor and ground floor are linked with a new double-height space and giant motorized sash window.

House in Hampstead, London [PDF]
A proposal to replace the existing 1930's 'neo-Georgian' pattern book house with a new contemporary 4-bedroom house, which is sensitive to this Conservation Area, as well as maximize the potential of this difficult narrow corner site. The result is a courtyard house at ground floor , with a floating sculptural and delicate volume above. Full height glazing blurs the boundaries between inside and outside , allow for long vistas across the site, and maximize daylight.

A contemporary country house situated in 50 acres of Suffolk Woodland, was granted planning permission under 'Gummer's Law' (PPG7 3.21 now PPS7). It is one of the few modern PPG7 country houses to be built. Here, tradition and modernity are combined in function, materials and style.
